Observer Editorial: a Picture Speaks a Thousand Words

This gem was posted within the last few days on the large billboard, owned by Clear Channel Outdoor Communications (441 E. 25th St., Phone: (520) 622-6777) located in the Julian Wash Cultural Resources Park owned by the City of Tucson and that only residents of the Sunset Villa Neighborhood can see (as it is no longer visible to the traffic on I-19).

PFOX, or Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays is a religious, right wing organization who promotes changing people’s sexual orientation through choice, a long discredited theory.

According to sources, there is no PFOX Conference scheduled for the foreseeable future in Tucson while some wondered was this in conjunction with the 35th anniversary of the American Psychological Association’s removal of homosexuality as a classified “mental illness.”

Call or E-mail Clear Channel, who received a rating of 100% for their employment policies towards their LGBT (Lesbian Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) workers, and let them know how you feel about this type of blight being seen in Tucson, even for just three days since the advertisement has been removed.
