Harper To Be Investigated Over Actions In Regard To Proposition 102

By a three to two vote, the Arizona Senate Ethics Committee has approved an investigation of state Senator Jack Harper (R-District 4, Surprise) and his actions during the last day of the legislative session in which SCR (Senate Concurrent Resolution) 1042 was forced through to be placed on the November general election ballot as Proposition 102.

Harper has been accused of deliberately breaking Senate rules to deny Senators Paula Aboud (D-28) and Ken Cheuvront (D-15) their rights during debate over SCR 1042. Sen. Cheuvront filed the ethics complaint about the alleged incident. Senate Ethics Committee Chair, Republican Jay Tibshraney along with Democratic Senator's Marsha Arzberger and Richard Miranda voted for the investigation. Republican Senator's Barbara Leff and Robert Blendu voted against.

Equality Arizona has posted the proceedlings online. To view the video of the hearing, visit http://eqfed.org/ct/AdMA4p11GmHy/. You can also visit the video archive page at http://eqfed.org/ct/ApMA4p11GmHn/ and find the hearing in the list of videos.
