Deadline Extended: Tucson GLBT Commission Seeking Candidates

In anticipation of upcoming vacancies and expiring terms, the Tucson Commission on Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Issues is currently seeking individuals interested in serving the community via appointment to the Commission.

The mission of the Tucson Commission on GLBT Issues is to foster conditions that promote the welfare of GLBT people of metropolitan Tucson , Arizona , through education, through advocacy, and through collaborative and advisory relationships with government, community organizations, businesses, and individuals.

Members are appointed by the Mayor and City Council to three-year terms. Council members may choose to appoint an individual of their choice. The Commission periodically, as positions are vacated, submits a list of recommended candidates for open position(s) to the Mayor and Council – these recommendations are usually followed.

After reviewing applications, the Search Committee will present their findings and recommendations to the full Commission, who in turn will forward recommendations for appointment to the Mayor and Council in the near future.
