Around the Old Pueblo

On Saturday, August 2, Wingspan will be holding their next in their Community Conversation series, Home Matters: Immigration and LGBT Life. This conversation will take place from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. at Wingspan, 425 E. 7th Street. For more information, call (520) 624-1779.

On Saturday, July 26, 2:30 - 4:00 p.m., Senior Pride and Eon will meet in the library at Wingspan, 425 E. 7th St., surrounded by books and words and have some intergenerational poetry fun. This is not a slam, no judges, no competition. It's a chance to share your favorite poems/poets with the Wingspan community and everyone is invited. We'll have two featured readers and then time for open mic. If you want to read (or recite) contact Penelope to get on the list. All ages encouraged to participate. For more information, contact Penelope Starr, (520) 624-1779.

Enjoy a trip up, August 17, 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., to the cool temperatures of Mt. Lemmon. Meet at the NE corner of Tanque Verde and Catalina Hwy at the McDonalds at 11:00 a.m. to caravan/car pool up the mountian. There is a $5 per vehicle park pass required. If you want to meet later in the afternoon, take the Catalina Highway off Tanque Verde Road in Tucson. Drive 4.2 miles to the Forest boundary and continue 25.6 miles (through Summerhaven). Marshall Gulch Picnic Area is a quarter mile beyond the village. Look for the rainbow flag at our picnic area. For more information, contact Peter Lake, (520) 245-6659.
