Potential Vote Friday on SCR 1042: By Mark R. Kerr

Despite the fact the Arizona state government does not have a budget for the next fiscal year which starts Tuesday (July 1), the Arizona state Senate will be taking up more important matters, such as same-sex marriage, despite state law (Arizona Revised Statutes 25-101 and 25-112) and the court ruling by those activist judges in Standhardt V. Superior Court in 2004 notwithstanding.

State Senator Ron Gould has announced his intentions to bring up a motion to reconsider SCR (Senate Concurrent Resolution) 1042 on Friday, June 27.

So call or E-mail your Senators to let them know what a waste of time this is and that they should be solely dealing with the budget and not wedge issues while collecting a per diem check from the state government for a legislative session that should have ended a long time ago already.

You can find the list of Arizona Senators here.

In other news, according to an Arizona State University/KAET-TV Phoenix poll of state voters, 52 percent of respondents said they'd blame the Legislature for a shutdown and 19 percent would blame Napolitano.

It is time for a budget to be agreed upon and then sine die!
