TUCSON (Observer Update) - Tucson’s own nationally known singer/songwriter, Namoli Brennet makes a special guest appearance as Desert Voices draws its 20th season to a close with concerts on April 18 7:30 p.m. and 19, 3:00 p.m. at Pima Community College Center for the Arts, Proscenium Theatre at West Campus.
Namoli Brennet is a winner of the Tucson Folk Festival songwriting competition in 2007 and the 2008 Best of Tucson award recipient for Best Performing Artist. She is also a 4-time Outmusic award nominee whose music has been featured in the Advocate, Chicago Free Press, No Depression and Performing Songwriter Magazine. She has shared stages with Melissa Ferrick, Jill Sobule, Michelle Shocked, SONIA, Alix Olson, Garrison Starr and Tim Eason. A former Desert Voices accompanist, Namoli returns for, “Out and Proud”, a celebration of 20 years of community performance featuring music that commemorates the heritage, history and so many of the inspiring moments that have become hallmarks of all Desert Voices’ concerts.
Some of the selections will pay a musical tribute to GALA, the international association of LGBT Choruses and its 25 years of fostering artistic and organizational development for over 170 member choruses and almost 10,000 vocalists worldwide.
