Bear Scratchings – Bears of the Old Pueblo

Greetings! It’s been many a moon since we published our last column and felt it was high-time that we let folks in on what our little ursine family has been up to. We’ve had a summer full of pool parties, barbeques, and numerous social events that have keep the fur flying! Along with that fun we’ve been working to make our group as warm and friendly as possible and we’d like to you to know about it.

For over five years the fine folks at Woody's Bar have been host to our club, providing us with a friendly environment to socialize and host our monthly Beer Busts. They welcome us with open arms and provided us with the proceeds and tips the busts. This, along with membership dues, was the main source of operating funds and allowed for continued operation and charitable donations to such organizations as SAAF, Wingspan, and the Community Foodbank. We are deeply grateful and hold Frank, Dave, and the Woody's team in great regard.

As the saying goes, the only constant in life is change so the Bears are relocating to another fine establishment to can reach out to more bearish men and their buddies. Our relationship with Woody's is still strong and we wish them all the best with the wonderful changes they’re implementing. Look for cross-promotional events with them in the future.

As of our September Beer Bust we'll be formally relocated to The Yard Dog. Merlyn and his crew have also offered to match the proceeds and tips arrangement we had with Woody's. We know of no other bear group in the country with this sort of support from their local businesses. Come on out from 4 - 7 p.m. this Saturday, September 20th and show them a great turnout to our new 'home bar'!

There is so much more going on that we just don’t have room to share here so please head over to the Bears of the Old Pueblo homepage at: www.botop.com for a full listing of events or give myself a call at: 520-904-4714. Kevin Jackson: Secretary, Bears of the Old Pueblo
