Broadway in Tucson Announces 2009/10 Season!

TUCSON (Observer Update) - Broadway in Tucson/A Nederlander Presentation proudly announces the 2009/2010 Season, its sixth season of presenting Broadway’s best shows and live entertainment downtown at the Tucson Convention Center venues. The 2009/2010 Season features a lineup of two of Broadway’s most recent hits alongside two iconic titles at the Tucson Music Hall and a special weeklong holiday event at the Fox Tucson Theatre. It’s one ELLE of a season!

The season begins in September with Monty Python’s SPAMALOT, the musical lovingly ripped off from the movie “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.” In December, the “musical wonder from Down Under,” THE TEN TENORS return to Tucson, this time at the Fox Theatre, to perform some holiday tunes alongside tracks from their latest album Nostalgica. The new year brings the totally fun, totally pink new musical based on the hit MGM film LEGALLY BLONDE. Tucson audiences are sure to LOL at sorority girl-turned-Harvard Law student Elle Woods and her hilarious antics. In February, family-favorite FIDDLER ON THE ROOF comes to the Music Hall, with the film’s star TOPOL in his farewell tour. It is one of Broadway’s most touching musicals, with a remarkable score that features popular songs like “If I Were a Rich Man” and “Sunrise, Sunset.” The season ends in April with a return engagement of the most popular musical we’ve ever presented, CHICAGO. It’s the irresistible story of fame, fortune and greed…and it’s back!

Along the way, Elle proves that being true to yourself never goes out of style. After turning Broadway and MTV hot pink, this “feel-good song and dance juggernaut” (New York Magazine) is “the best new musical around!” (WOR).
