TUCSON (Observer Update) - It’s a battle of champion teams at the next Tucson Roller Derby bout this Saturday night, March 7, when the 5th Season champs, the VICE Squad, take on the 1st Season champs, the Furious Truckstop Waitresses (FTW), at Bladeworld, I-10 at Grant in Tucson. The bout begins at 7:00 p.m. and between-period music will be performed by The Fisters. Advance tickets are available for $8, door tickets costing $10.

The Tucson Roller Derby is a non-profit cooperative operated by the league’s member skaters. In the February 7th round robin tournament that opened the TRD’s 6th Season, the VICE Squad took all of its mini-bouts by mostly huge margins. In addition to walloping the FTW 42-4, they beat the Copper Queens 28-17 and the Iron Curtain 29-23. The FTW dropped all of their mini-bouts in single-digit scoring, being additionally beaten by the #3 Iron Curtain 24-7 and the #2 Copper Queens 35-5.

Also on the Season Opener, the Saddlebrats, the all-star team of the TRD junior league Derby Brats, defeated the Los Angeles Junior Derby Dolls, 163-11. The next TRD bout at Bladeworld will be a “MetalBrawl” later this month, when the Copper Queens and Iron Curtain meet on March 28.
