PHOENIX (Observer Update) - Phoenix is now home to a center for the arts created to showcase the works of Gay , Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered Artists.
From the performing arts to fine arts, the newly formed, Phoenix Gay Arts Center (P.G.A.C.) was created to provide a venue for works that might not otherwise be seen.
Located in the Roosevelt district of downtown Phoenix, The Phoenix Gay Arts Center “Incubus Project” is the start of what will become a more comprehensive center. Though small, roughly 350 square feet, the space will begin regular hours of operation in February and will showcase new visual art on a monthly basis.
“I knew there was a need for more spaces for artists of all disciplines to showcase their works, and now more than ever this felt like the ideal time and place to start,” said Hoffman.
Response to the “soft” opening was positive during February’s First Friday’s Celebration when galleries and arts venues simultaneously open for a city wide celebration of the arts. Foot traffic was heavy, and the response from those viewing the space was appreciative.
