Send a Message to Business Leaders Who Support Anti-LGBT Ballot Measures

  • Alan Stock, the CEO of Cinemark Theaters, wants to have his "Milk" and drink it too...so to speak.

  • postcard

Cinemark owns all but one of the theaters in Tucson showing the critically acclaimed movie "Milk," which opened Friday.

I have a real problem with the fact that Mr. Stock personally donated $9,999.99 in support of Proposition 8, while his company is set to make millions from a film about Harvey Milk, one of the true heroes of the LGBT civil rights movement.

This is why I am writing to ask for your help. We need to send a message to Mr. Stock and other business leaders.

They can't financially support bigotry and homophobia and then expect to profit from our community and our history.

What better way to do this than to raise $9,999.99 in support of Wingspan's work in the coming year, while sending a message directly to Mr. Stock that this money was raised because of his support for anti-LGBT ballot measures.

If you make an online donation of $9.99 or more, Wingspan will mail a postcard to the CEO of Cinemark Theaters, stating that a donation was made to Wingspan in his name.

Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, your donation is worth twice as much!

Our anonymous donor will match your donation, dollar for dollar, up to $4,999.99. Please help us maximize this opportunity to support YOUR community and YOUR center by making a donation online today!

Additionally, please choose to patronize the Harkins Tucson Spectrum 18 when you see "Milk." It is the only theater showing the film in the Tucson area that is not owned by Cinemark.

On behalf of Wingspan's incredible board staff and volunteers, I want to thank you for your support in 2008. I look forward to serving you and our community in 2009.

    Happy Holidays!
