On Friday, November 14, more than 1,000 LGBT and straight supportive Tucsonans gathered at El Presidio Park in front of the Pima County Courthouse to come together in mutual support, honoring the anger and disappointment we feel about the passage of Prop 102, and to heal.
Tucson's protest of Proposition 102, as well as Florida's Amendment 2 and California's Proposition 8 kicked off more than 300 protests held across the country, most today, in the wake of the November 4 vote on these measures.
Tucson's march got underway at dusk, ending at a rally at La Placita Plaza where Wingspan Executive Director Jason Cianciotto debuted Wingspan’s Families You Know campaign. The goals of the campaign is to “raise awareness, confront prejudice, and begin a conversation where all families are respected, valued, and not exploited for short-term political gain.”
