Hair - Part One - By Jack Melichar

HAIR, the American Tribal-Love musical comes to Tucson. It will be here (at the Temple of Music and Art in downtown Tucson) from November 29 - December 28, with the official opening night being December 5. However, if you purchase your tickets during the week of November 10-14 for select performances, you will receive a free HAIR t-shirt. Call (520) 622-2823 for more information, to get your tickets, and your FREE T-shirt today!

I will have more about this musical – one which helped define a generation – in a later edition. Oh, and please be aware that the musical has nudity and "adult" language – you know, the kind of language used by fifth and sixth graders and hardly ever by adults! Just remember THIS IS THE DAWNING OF THE AGE OF AQUARIUS

And on a sad note, Miriam Makeba, (widely known as Mamma Africa) a South African singer whose voice stirred hope of freedom in her own country, even though her music was formally banned by the apartheid authorities she struggled against, died on Monday (November 10) after performing a concert in Italy. She was 76. We need more people of her integrity.
