TUCSON (Observer Update) - Desert Voices Chorus celebrates the opening of their 20th season with concerts on December 6-7 at Grace St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. 2331 E. Adams.
This year’s holiday presentation, “Down the Chimney”, is an eclectic musical program featuring traditional seasonal favorites as well as non-traditional, multi-cultural elements that blend seamlessly for a unique and festive evening. Tucson’s own, Namoli Brennet, will make a guest appearance and debut a new piece written especially for Desert Voices 20th anniversary celebration.
Since it’s inaugural rehearsals in 1988, Desert Voices has evolved to over 50 voices strong under the artistic direction of Chris Tackett. Each season, for the last 20 years, Desert Voices has carefully designed its musical programs to reflect the diversity of our community and provide concerts that inspire, as well as entertain. Saturday’s performance begins at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. Desert Voices is Tucson’s Premier GLBTS Chorus. All event proceeds go toward maintaining Desert Voices’ mission of uniting the community through their music. For more information, go online to desertvoices.org.
