3rd Annual Tucson Transgender Awareness Week Continues

November 12 to 23, marks Tucson's third annual Transgender Awareness Week. This week will be filled with films, panels, performances, discussions, trainings and many important speakers.

Reading: Transgender Voices by Lori Girshick - Friday, November 21, 2008
3pm, The Cellar, Student Union Memorial Center and 7pm, Antigone Books, 4th Ave.
Lori Girshick, Ph D., author, and consultant in LGBT domestic and sexual violence, reads excerpts from her book Transgender Voices: Beyond Women and Men, which gives voice to a range of folks who transgress gender. Girshick relates these people's gender identity journeys and their thoughts about social values, social norms and expectations, as well as the social pressures to "be" a certain way for a man or a certain way for a woman. Kim Pearson Presents: T for 2,3,4,5,6: The Future of Trans Activism and Education
Saturday, November 22, 2008, 2-4 pm, Historic Y. Join Kim Pearson, Executive Director and Co-Founder of Trans Youth Family Allies and National Board President of PFLAG-TNET, in a discussion about supporting and advocating for trans youth and their families. A family-centered celebration will follow the discussion.

SAAF's Festival for Life - Sunday, November 23, 2008, 4-8pm,UA Ballroom, 3rd Floor of the Student Union Memorial Center.
