Out the Vote, the statewide LGBT voter registration and mobilization campaign, has begun outreach to southern Arizona. Wingspan is its newest partner, joining Equality Arizona, "In-Touch" and "Echo Magazine." With just over 50 days until the October 6 voter registration deadline for the general election, Out the Vote is expanding its efforts to increase the LGBT vote and bring more LGBT people to the table.
It's easy to get involved. Register yourself, check with your friends and family to make sure that their voter registration is current. Annie Lloyd of Out the Vote says some Out the Vote supporters "throw house parties, some have a big event at their place of business, some place the logo on their websites." You can get logos and links for your MySpace page or website at the Out the Vote site: www.outthevote.us.
Look for announcements about Out the Vote events in the coming weeks here and on the Out the Vote site. For more information about Out the Vote and on how to get involved, please visit their web site here The Out the Vote site also has handy links for online voter registration and digital voter registration forms. Voter registration forms are also available at Wingspan (425 E. 7th St., Tucson).
