The Day of Silence on April 25, 2008 is a national, annual event held to bring attention to anti-LGBT bullying, harassment and discrimination in schools. Students and teachers nationwide will observe the day in silence to echo the silence that LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) and ally students face everyday. Day of Silence is one of the largest student-led actions in the country. (http://www.dayofsilence.org). On April 25, participants will not participate in any verbal communication instead handing out "speaking cards" and wearing t-shirts to raise awareness and show solidarity with one another.
